Sarah Palin – Drama Queen Extraordinaire
Sarah Palin’s choice in timing, in her announcement to resign, has some saying she has chosen an excellent opportunity to resign as Governor of Alaska. Some say her hope is to avoid too much publicity by being temporarily buried in a holiday weekend and the Michael Jackson daily news with his upcoming memorial service on Tuesday.
The drama queen in her probably secretly hopes to steal the headlines away from Michael Jackson, as a means of showing how much support she has from the public, while giving the impression that she is attempting to run from news coverage in her timing to quit.
With less than two (2) years left to serve as Governor and no known pressure being put on her to resign, you have to wonder just what is going through that ditzy brain of hers. Some have said that her personal pressures have been mounting with the scrutiny on her family and her running feud with the John McCain camp. This feud with the McCain camp, seems to die for a while and then it is reignited again, as it has flared up in recent days.
She, herself, alludes to the legal bills her family has accrue with the ethics investigation she underwent, which she states proved her innocent of all charges, but was a waste of tax payers money and a waste of money from her family to the tune of nearly a half million dollars in personal attorney fees. In her sneaky way though, she attempts to take the pressure off of her ethics violations that were called into play, by criticizing the “politics as usual” mentality of most politicians – Governors in particular.
She goes on to say that she definitely does not want Alaskans dissuaded from politics, based on the very real “climate change” that started in August”; here again she is alluding to her problems which occurred with her nomination for the position of Vice President. With every word that comes out of her mouth you begin to see the depth of her pain and her mission to show that she is somehow a better person than most; a better person than the general public may perceive her to be – she tries too hard to convince.
She criticizes how most Governors adopt the “lame duck” position spending tax payer’s money to travel around the country while she tries to paint herself as somehow above being of that “lame duck” mentality. She also hints strongly at Obama’s campaign of too much government involvement in free enterprise by stating how we should “have respect for our constitution where government is suppose to serve from the bottom up and not move to this big government take over but rather will be protectors of individual rights.”
Palin suggests that her goal will be to “affect positive changes outside of state government” – keeping her eye on the ball (energy, national security, independence and freedom) and that she is “demonstrating, with her resignation, that she knows when to pass the ball so that the team can win.” She pats herself on the back for not accepting money from the stimulus packages and makes note of all of the positive changes she has instituted for the people of Alaska since she has been in office.
Her whole speech gave the impression that she was attempting to erase the negativity that seems to surround her by giving excuses of “no more politics as usual” as she ends her tirade with a quote from General MacAuthur saying “We are not retreating we are advancing in another direction”.
As the Republican Party scrambles to find a hopeful for the 2012 run for President, has Sarah Palin erased her name from the slim list of possibilities. There is something dishonest and desperate about Sarah Palin, something that I do not trust as I watched her twist the comments of Letterman and shift her “ethics committee scrutiny” on to all politicians in an effort to show herself in a different light.
I, for one, hope she stays true to her word when she states that her goal is to affect change “outside of government” because she is truly not the type to be the head of this country. Personally, I would vote for Hilary Clinton before I would vote for Sarah Palin and I have no great love for Hilary. Palin has demonstrated that she has some emotional problems that are just below the surface, ready to explode into view at any given moment. Palin also shows how easily words can be manipulated in an effort to shift blame and justify actions.
After watching this display and the dialogue with Letterman, dragging her young daughter into a conversation that was not intended for her, I put her on the same level as the Ayatollah of Iran – untrustworthy, hidden agendas, emotionally unstable while attempting to give the vibe of spirituality – she turned my stomach.
And that’s the way I see it!!!
