Will It Take War On American Soil To Unify Americans - Can You See Beyond Your Selfishness To Understand The Danger That Is Lurking In The World
In June 2008, then President Bush signed a $162 billion supplemental spending bill to cover the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This bill was slated to cover these wars through the spring of 2009. Fast forward to June 2009 – Yesterday a $106 billion measure was passed in Congress to carry the war and reconstruction efforts through September 2009. While all of this money recently signed off on is not earmarked entirely to the war efforts, this brings the total spending on wars since the 9/11 tragedy to nearly $1 trillion.
This amount of money is staggering and it is a large portion of our national debt. Although I believe with every fiber of my being that since our troops are over in these countries it is our responsibility to support them by supplying them with the resources needed to complete the mission, my concern is towards the North Korean threat as well as the threat from Iran as the hate for America is verbalized by the protesters supporting Ahmadinejad as they march through the streets of Iran.
We are financially engaged up to our noses with funding to Iraq and Afghanistan. How would we support a war with North Korea? With the stand that President Obama took yesterday against North Korea, which is backed by the U.N. Security Council, it appears that confrontation is imminent. This stand includes authorizing North Korean ship searches in an effort to halt nuclear and ballistic missile cargo and blocking aid and financing to the country. This would break the cycle that has so far characterized prior dealings with North Korea.
North Korea, conversely, has stated that if provoked in this manner their retaliation will be a “thousand-fold” and primarily directed towards the United States and its allies. With our economy faltering and our financial and physical commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan, can we truly afford to engage in a confrontation with North Korea? Will North Korea, in the end, help supply enriched uranium to Iran in exchange for financial gain in an effort to offset the sanctions placed on its country by the United States and the Security Council?
Since 1994 in the agreed upon Geneva contract, where North Korea was suppose to freeze its existing nuclear program, rumors have it that North Korea has garnered enough plutonium from their reactors for use in a number of atomic bombs. How many atomic bombs would it take to cripple the United States?
Reality has it that North Korea has been testing its nuclear armament underground in the past couple of months with a pending test for firing a long-range missile capable of reaching the United States. The arrogance of the North Koreans is inconceivable but what is more unbelievable is that people can still so blindly follow a leader bent on chaos and destruction; a leader that can and does control what you are allowed to see of the world; a leader who is bent on attempting to control your very soul.
Speaking of control, in their attempts to control media coverage of the violence taking place in Iran, Iranian officials are demanding that Iranian websites and bloggers remove all material that causes dissention amongst its people or awareness, to people in the world, of the crisis taking place in the territory. For me this is their way of controlling the outcome of this internal war that has sprung up amidst allegation of the fraudulent election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – this way they can beat those who believe in the fraud into submission and acceptance without the world as witness to the madness.
While all you American haters of Obama and his policies are voicing your opinions and putting down Obama, every time he takes a breath, you need to be trying to get unified behind him for what may be the violence to come.
And that’s the way I see it!!!

Very well written and extremely thought provoking. History has shown us, from Napolean to Hitler, that spreading your military too thin results in eventual defeat on all fronts. That being said; the threat from N. Korea is real and cannot be ignored and it certainly is a time for all Americans to unify.
The problem, I feel, lies with the failure of those in the UN who approve of sanctions and actions yet choose to view what transpires from the sidelines (witness Iraq). Right or wrong; we have always been the first to fight and in this case, I don’t feel it is a case of totalitarianism but self-preservation. There is little doubt that the country is run by a madman and if, in fact, he isn’t running the show; his son must be equally mad.
I fear that without a real commitment from China; engaging N. Korea in any manner may prove to be disastrous. I wouldn’t be saying that if we weren’t already fighting 2 different wars; one of which we never should have been in to begin with. However, that point is moot at this point. Thanks for giving us all something to think about and though I neglected to mention the threat Iran poses; that too is very real.

This is why so many of us object to what Obama is doing, because we are not blind and not bent on self-destruction. Socialism is not an option for Americans, nor is blindly following a foolish man into the depths of hell.

Those that disagree seem to be in the minority according to the survey put out on CNN station Obama’s approval rate is still in the 60 percentile. The word Socialism as directed at Obama was put out by none other than McCain and those who are still using it need to go to a dictionary and define it instead of blindly remaining on the McCain bandwagon - better yet, I will define it for you since it is obvious you refuse to do it for yourself.
GOOGLE SEARCH OF SOCIALISM:
Socialism is an ‘economic, social and political doctrine which expresses the struggle for the equal distribution of wealth by eliminating private property and the exploitative ruling class. In practice, such a distribution of wealth is achieved by social ownership of the means of production, exchange and diffusion (Rius, Marx for Beginners (New York: Patheon Books, 1976), 152.)
A political philosophy advocating substantial public involvement, through government ownership, in the means of production and distribution.
Note here: the American people called for more stringent oversight of organizations that requested bail out money.
Economic system centered on the belief that the means of production (such as land) should be collectively owned and that market exchange should be replaced by collectively controlled distribution based on social needs.
ENCARTA DICTIONARY:
A political theory or system in which the means of production and distribution are controlled by the people and operated according to equity and fairness rather than market principles.
A political movement based on principles of socialism, typically advocating an end to private property and to the exploitation of workers.
No way is Obama advocating any of these forms of socialism except maybe on the level of health care and to a great degree I am in agreement with this. Call me a liberal or democrat or anything else, at leat I think for myself.
